CTG/LJ update
Pubs and Restaurants
A week on a beach by the Med seems to have helped formulate the CTG project.
CTG has been on a burner right at the back for quite some time. I found some pubs and restaurant data a while ago, but have only recently made a clear decision about where to put it. There’s long been an overlap between CTG and Local Journal as they both have ‘venues’ of one sort or another asa central component.
I started playing with parsing PDFs to read the textual contents, and then rendering the pages as JPEGs a few months ago. By strange coincidence I bumped into someone who looks after their village website – nightmare with their domain name. I cobbled together a replacement site to tide them over, and as one of the main features was/is their back catalogue of village newsletters going back decades I used the opportunity to put my new PDF-related code skills to use.
Update
A found a few minutes this evening to add a posts thing to CTG. I tested it in the field at The Red Lion and hit that thing - the ‘what should I write?’ question
